OhYeah! Total Protein System: The Muscle Building, Fat Burning Food, that Makes Eating Lean a Snap

If you take building your body seriously, you know that if you always had the time to prepare clean, high protein meals, the entire process would be a whole lot easier. That's why we designed the OhYeah! powdered drink mix as a Total Protein System, providing a specific array of proteins, carbs and fats that makes eating lean and clean at every meal, a snap!
Based on the most current scientific research that shows how different levels of proteins and carbs affect metabolic signaling1, OhYeah! provides an optimum macronutrient breakdown, that when mixed with water, milk or your favorite beverage, becomes a delicious, muscle building, fat burning food you can make anytime.
Go Beyond Protein, and Get the Full Benefits of a True Designer Meal Ask any experienced bodybuilder, and they'll tell you that their body feels and looks best when they focus on eating meals that contain proteins, carbs and fats - like real food. Experience has taught these athletes to avoid diets that leave key macronutrients out of their meals, because this can cause the body to crave what it's not getting, like carbs or fats. So if you're using a plain old protein powder in place of meals, it's possible that you're missing out on the increased benefits of eating meals designed to give your body what it needs, while leaving out the junk that can sabotage your gains.
The science and real world success behind eating more complete meals is designed into every serving of OhYeah! Total Protein System. In fact, if you were a nutrition scientist tasked with creating the perfect meal for building muscle and burning fat (like ours were), it would look a lot like OhYeah! Total Protein System. Here's why.
The Right Proteins at the Right Time OhYeah! Total Protein System contains 32 grams of fast and slow acting proteins that are also the richest source of branch chain amino acids (BCAA's) and leucine you can get. Our source proteins include; Ultrafiltered Whey Protein Concentrate, Milk Protein Concentrate (Containing Native Micellar Casein And Whey Proteins From Fresh Ultrafiltered Skim Milk), Calcium Caseinate and Whey Protein Isolate. We selected these proteins for two very important reasons; 1) the individual amino acid profile, or breakdown per 100-grams of all the proteins combined, and 2) the digestion, or release kinetics. This simply refers to the length of time that proteins take to digest before the amino acids become available to your bloodstream, and how long your body continues to receive amino acids after they first arrive.
Gram for Gram the Most Powerful Protein Blend You Can Get, Bar NONE As you can see, our team of nutrition scientists chose a combination of 100% milk proteins for the OhYeah! Total Protein System. One primary reason we chose to use 100% milk proteins is because they contain the highest amount of BCAA's and leucine per 100-grams of any source proteins. This is critical because BCAA's have been shown to offset muscle protein breakdown, by providing on-board muscle fuel that can be manufactured uniquely in muscle tissue, without going through the liver. What's more important however, is that through sophisticated research techniques and gene markers, we now know that one of the three BCAA's, leucine, is the preeminent signaling agent for muscle protein synthesis.
Simply put, leucine is the nutritional hammer that can initiate and amplify the specific cascade of events (generally referred to by scientists as the mTor complex), that turns-on muscle protein synthesis. Without question, if you're looking to build lean muscle, the OhYeah! Total Protein System contains the best proteins you can get to signal the process of repair and/or creation of additional lean muscle mass, through muscle protein synthesis.
Fast and Slow Proteins: The Best of Both Worlds In addition to providing the absolute best gram for gram amino acid combination, our source proteins have the ability to deliver amino acids into the bloodstream extremely fast, and also in a slow, prolonged fashion. Having both fast and slow acting proteins is without question the best way to absorb the amino acids from the proteins you eat, and here is why.
Fast Amino Acid Availability Research has shown that whey protein is by far, the fastest acting protein on the planet. And while milk proteins contain 20% whey, the OhYeah! Total Protein System brings this level into an optimum range by adding in Ultrafiltered Whey Protein Concentrate and Whey Isolate. Regarding whey, fast acting or short digestion times means that peak levels of the amino acids in the protein will be in the bloodstream within 1-3 hours, and will decline at roughly the same pace. Rapid delivery serves to augment the initiation of muscle protein synthesis, by delivering high amounts of leucine to the signaling complex mentioned above.
To better understand why fast delivery of amino acids can be a big plus for anyone building their body, just imagine for a moment that you are bowling. And either a fast, or slow bowling ball is rolling down the lane, ready knock down a set of bowling pins. The bowling balls represent the speed of the amino acids becoming available. So then, the ball rolling faster is sure to knock down more pins than one going at a snail's pace. This "knock down" power is why researchers believe fast acting protein (high in leucine), like those found in the OhYeah! Total Protein System, greatly amplifies the initiation signal for protein synthesis (mTor).
Prolonged Amino Acid Availability In contrast, a slower acting protein takes more time to digest, and this typically means the majority of the amino acids will peak in the blood AFTER 3 hours, and slowly dissipate at roughly the same speed. The benefit here is that once protein synthesis is initiated, having an additional amount of slow digesting protein becomes a big advantage. This is because keeping a constant supply of amino acids on the "muscle building assembly line" is necessary for the body to stay in sync with the time dependent nature of manufacturing new lean tissue.
This slow influx of amino acids is followed by a similar rate of dissipation. The extended flow generates constant amino acid levels in blood (less spikes), and therefore prolongs amino acid availability that can help offset any need to tear down muscle protein to make glucose - a process that is switched on 24/7 as a backup to support the brain's constant need for glucose as fuel. This is why research has shown that, the slow acting proteins delivered in the OhYeah! Total Protein System, including Native Micellar Casein and Calcium Caseinate, can reduce muscle protein breakdown by 34%.
Structured Fats & a Touch of Carbohydrate: Quick Muscle Fuel and Enhanced Recovery While it's true that the heart of the OhYeah! Total Protein System IS protein, the additional benefits delivered by its structured fatty acid blend and inclusion of a touch of carbohydrates, provides a remarkable range of metabolic value. First, we included a function specific blend of fast-burning medium-chain triglycerides (MCT's) for an immediate source of energy that conserves lean muscle, as well as omega-6 essential fatty acids (EFA's) that aid in recovery. MCT's are added because they are quickly metabolized by the body in much the same way as carbohydrates. This becomes very helpful for athletes who want to become or stay as lean as possible, but realize that a loss of training intensity by reducing energy substrates can cause fat burning to stall, or become horribly deficient. The fact that MCT's do not cause a rise in blood glucose levels helps keep the fat storing hormone, insulin, in check, so that the use of body fat as fuel will not be disrupted.
Lastly, we added 7 grams of carbohydrate, which includes an ultra low level of just 2 grams of sugar. The addition of a small amount of carbohydrate helps keep blood sugar levels constant and helps athletes from becoming too insulin sensitive - which over time can make any carbohydrate in the athletes diet problematic. Further, research has shown that a moderate amount of carbohydrate at each meal can prolong the duration of muscle protein synthesis and increase the thermic effect of food, which means it ramps up your metabolic rate naturally.
